Walter Lewis Shockey
Fayetteville – Services for Walter Lewis Shockey, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Fayetteville Baptist Church with the Rev. David Sneed and the Rev. Henry O. Loving in charge. Burial will be in Hugheston Memorial Park.
He died in a Charleston hospital Monday of natural causes.
Born June 13, 1903, at Dempsey, he was a son of the late Hayden and Sarah Jane Martin Shockey.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and United Mine Workers.
His wife, Audrey McClung Shockey, died in March 1967.
Survivors include a son, Paul B. of Charleston; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Smith of Oak Hill, Mrs. Sarah Martin of Warner Robbins, Ga., Mrs. Shirley Pigg of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs. June Blackwelder of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Patty Nugen and Mrs. Clara Broach, both of Fayetteville, Fayetteville and Mrs. Lena Holstein of Pax; 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
