Catherine E Stangel *
Catharine Emily Stangel, age 100, passed away at her home outside Papinville, Missouri on October 6, 2023.
Catharine was born August 23, 1923 in Bates County to James C. and Katie B. (Wetzel) Shockey. She attended school at Mission Branch and graduated from Rich Hill High School. Catharine married her high school sweetheart, Paul Stangel, on Feb. 09, 1946, in Bates County, MO. To this union, three children were born: Arleta May, Paula Sue, and Jerry Lee. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She attended the Rich Hill United Methodist Church in Rich Hill, Missouri.
Catharine is preceded in death by her husband Paul and son-in-law Cliff. She is survived by her daughters: Arleta Crockett and husband Leon of Ft. Worth, Texas; Paula Prater of Woodland Park, Colorado; son: Jerry Stangel and wife Angela of Rockville, Missouri; special son: Lloyd Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Heuser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-6 pm, Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Heuser Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery.
