Eli G. Shockey
Eli G. Shockey, 70, of 1722 Cameo Ave., Loveland, Colo., died March 9, 1973, in Weld County General Hospital in Greeley, Colo. A native of Sand Patch, Somerset County, he was born Aug. 18, 1902, and married the former Florence Gerhardt of Meyersdale, in East McKeesport, May 31, 1928. Prior to his retirement in 1965, Mr. Shockey was a pipe design and stress engineer for plants and worked on an atomic facility in Hanford, Wash. He also designed an atomic waste disposal car. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Vitro Corporation in Richland, Ore., before locating in Loveland in 1969. Mr. Shockey was a member of the Society of Professional Engineers, the John A. Brashear Masonic Lodge 743, AF&AM, Dormont, Pa.; the Georgus Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, Pittsburgh, and the Shrine Club of Pittsburgh. He also was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Dormont. Survivors include his wife; three children, Gordon Shockey, San Diego, Calif.; Philip N. Shockey, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Mrs. Robert (Mary Katheryn) Ramsay, Berthoud, Colo.; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Cross, Miss Cleo Shockey and Mrs. Ann Green all of Butler, Pa.
